Martin Buchta graduated from the Prague Institute of Chemical Technology, Faculty of Chemical Technology, Department of Organic Chemistry in 1988. He finished his Ph.D. degree at Prague Institute of Chemical Technology, Faculty of Chemical Engineering, Department of Analytical chemistry in 1993. His professional specialization is the technology of isolation and purification of natural active substances.
